Ho Chi Minh City With A Three Month Old

We took our three month old to Vietnam.  Sounds crazy but it was actually one of the easier holidays we had with our portable, non-moving, always sleeping, breast-feeding bean.  We visited Ho Chi Minh City during Tết – the Vietnamese new year.  Going to Vietnam during this time with a baby wasn’t a strategic move but it turned out to be hugely advantageous due to there being less people and therefore less pram vs people struggles on

5 Reasons To Take Your Toddler To The Beach

The other day I thought “I’ve had enough of groundhog day and this freezing cold weather, I need some beach action” and so packed myself and T-Rex off to my hometown of Bournemouth.  I’m so glad we did. We had the nicest few days hanging out in our wellies and bobble hats down at the beach, breathing in fresh sea air and generally getting a change of scenery. The absolute

Magical Lantern Festival – Chiswick House, London

If you haven’t managed to get to see this yet, you should – it’s amazing.  There is still a week left to visit the debuting Magical Lantern Festival at Chiswick House in London.  We went last night and it was a truly lovely evening although a bit cold so wrap up warm.  T-Rex had a late night and although it wasn’t without a couple of tantrums, plus a pot

Bioparc – An African Zoo In Valencia

Weird concept I know, to have an African zoo in Spain but our discovery of Bioparc in Valencia was actually a very cool find.  I’m really not into the idea of zoos but since having T-Rex, me and the zoo have become good friends.  They are a good family day out and it seems that many zoos these days are conservation projects for endangered species which makes me feel better about

How To Do Peppa Pig World In Style

There are two VIPs (very important pigs) down in Hampshire. One has its very own theme park and is of large pink cartoon proportions – yes that’s you Peppa Pig World.  The other is a country hotel – The Pig – serving up delicious food to tired guests who might have spent the day visiting our wonderful Peppa. Friendly Hampshire Pig Sometimes you just have to do things that will make your kids happy.  I was dreading

Parent Escape: The Spa at Bedford Lodge Hotel, Suffolk

A couple of months ago, The Spa at Bedford Lodge Hotel in Suffolk invited me to spend a day trying out their facilities and a couple of their spa treatments.  It was a hard decision but I obliged.  Can I just say I LOVE SPAS!!!  I know everyone does but I think I am obsessed.  I have been told my bathroom looks like a spa –  it did before a token

A Play Park And Colombia Road Flower Market

Sunny Sundays are made for flower markets. Pre T-Rex I used to love to go for a mosey around Brick Lane and Colombia Road Flower Market, have a spot of lunch at one of the little cafes, a little afternoon drink at one of the pubs. Now I’d think twice because taking a toddler to one of London’s busiest markets is my idea of hell.  When a friend recently suggested we

Mummy’s Day Off: Bermondsey Street

I’ve had quite a few nice days off recently.  Since T-Rex started two days (yes two whole days!) at nursery, I have a new found freedom which I had forgotten about.  I think I’ve got a bit of Abbie back!  Last week I met a friend for lunch in Bermondsey Street, one of my favourites for London food.  We went to Jose’s tapas and sherry bar which, I might add, is

Cotehele Villas, Plymouth

Plymouth has never been on my wish list but our stay just on the outskirts of the city centre, in the pretty area of Stoke was this weekend’s perfect base to explore the area and South Devon.  Being toddler-free meant we could enjoy some much needed down time and discover that Plymouth has quite a few hidden gems, one of which was the gorgeous Bed & Breakfast that is Cotehele Villas. As much as

Shopping with Kids in Singapore

Yes I know, to any sane mother this sounds like a nightmare but to go to Singapore and not visit Orchard Road is like going to London and not shopping at all.  On my recent trip I found a way of making Singapore shopping with a child less traumatic – I’d even go so far as to say it was enjoyable. My saviour was the 5th floor of designer shopping
