Modernist In The Maldives: Parent Escape

Last year was an epic year of travelling for us and we managed to tick off two of our most wanted on the bucket list. The Maldives was one of these destinations. As many of you might have seen from my social media posts, we stayed as a family at the Park Hyatt Hadahaa. It’s a cliché but it was an unforgettable luxury experience which we all enjoyed so much.If I

A Car Seat For Mini Road Trippers – Koochi

If this year is the year you need to change car seats then take a look at this one that we’ve just been trialing. The brand is called Koochi and they specialise in travel inspired prams and car seats – they are by the same makers of Cosatto. Their main ethos is of course comfort and safety but they are also big on cool, stylish travel and so have produced a collection of colourful prams and car seats

Sunny Art For Winter Days

As I write this post (uncomfortable and sweltering) in a 38 degree heat in Australia, I’m aware that everyone back at home in England is freezing. For me, January can be such a depressing time of year, especially when you live in a cold climate. I know I definitely suffer from SAD when Christmas is over and the reality of grey skies and work kicks in. So I thought I’d start

A Family Beach House In Weligama, Sri Lanka

Our beach house in Sri Lanka was the second of our stays with Villas in Sri Lanka (the first was at Claughton House). It was near the famous Weligama Bay, in a beautiful beach bungalow called Suriyawatta. This property couldn’t be more perfect for a large family or family groups that want to share. I loved the way it felt like a real family home with a large wrap around garden and

The Maldives With Kids – Mirihi Island Resort

The Maldives must have been on my bucket list since the word go. To visit with kids? Probably not but as timings in life go, this was our opportunity and so, with kid in tow…off we go. Contrary to what I was expecting, this holiday turned out to be one of our easiest and most relaxing. The choice of resort is key and staying on the laid back island resort of

Claughton House – A Luxury Villa In Sri Lanka

If you followed my trip to Sri Lanka on Instagram or Facebook and are feeling inspired to book a family trip yourselves then I’d highly recommend having a look at Villas In Sri Lanka.  They have a whole range of self catering accommodation from small but stylish cottages amongst tea plantations to luxury beach villas suitable for big families or groups of friends. This is the first of two villa reviews –

The Packing List – Sri Lanka & The Maldives

A colourful case for a colourful place! A few essentials (and non essentials) I’m taking with us on our trip to Australia, via Sri Lanka and the Maldives. This time we’ll be away for approximately five months and so the packing list for both myself and my son has been hard to whittle down but here is a sneak peak of what I’ll be taking. The Essentials: Mosquito repellents – We are travelling

Three Dorset Beach Retreats For Families

If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll know how much I love a little weekend escape and if it’s by the sea then that’s a bonus. Growing up on the Dorset coast there never used to be any nice hotels, they were all really seedy seaside b&b’s with moldy walls and soggy toast. Thank goodness things have changed! If you’re thinking of taking a weekend break with the family or on

Run Away With The Circus – Zippos

Last week we went to Zippos Circus and it was truly so much fun. I hadn’t planned on going, I generally don’t have a love of the circus but we were bored and in need of entertainment.  Well entertain it did and much more. T-Rex and I ate popcorn together, marvelled at the big top and enjoyed an afternoon of innocent laughter brought to us by some very talented and ‘real’ ringside performers.

Weekend In Gloucestershire: A Photo Story

As a confirmed free spirit who just wants to live by the ocean and drink out of coconuts, sometimes London living can get under my skin.  I have a love hate relationship with city living but give me a large natural open space and I’m anyone’s. We just spent last weekend in Gloucestershire and it came at a perfect time when living in our little London house with an almost ‘threenager’
